I wanted to add a photo to go along with this post but could not decide on the right one. I ended up on choosing the above photo which is, in fact, one of the first photos I took using the DSLR as I started this journey and seemed fitting to be added here.
So the first post on the blog. Please do try to be gentle with me. I have already mentioned on the About me page who I am, so please check the same for that. The reason to start this blog was a way to document my journey through Digital Photography, things that I learn, mistakes that I make as I try my best to improve.
As long as I can remember the only other hobby I ever had was collecting Stamps when I was in school. I was so fascinated with stamps! I had at least 3 books which were filled with stamps from across the globe. It really gave me a sense of joy whenever I added new stamps to my collection and I proudly displayed them to my friends explaining where each stamp came from.Somehow time went by and unfortunately, this passion got lost between studies and eventually career.
So where does Digital Photography figure in this ramble you say? Well, since the time I’ve had a smartphone I remember being interested in clicking photos and uploading them to Instagram as early as 2013. It was only after someone suggested that getting a more serious camera — a “DSLR” would open up the photography opportunities a phone camera could not.
So after quite a few months of research on buying the right camera at a budget finally got my Nikon D3100, well not a high-end camera but does get the job done. Getting the camera once again ignited the passion I had lost (stamp collection) years ago and also gave me an outlet to relax from the daily routine.
I do have to admit that unlike my earlier hobby of stamp collection, digital photography which I have come to understand is an expensive one to maintain. That being said, I am enjoying it thoroughly and someday hope to move from being an amateur to at least semi-pro.
Well, I guess that’s enough of that. Along the way, I intend to post images I have taken(mostly with the DSLR but also my mobile phone camera) and maybe also post on topics and concepts related to digital photography as I learn them which might benefit others embarking on a similar journey. Again please be gentle as I am in no way an expert in photography and the information shared here is based on my own learnings – practical and from various experts.
